Work have been muttering about promoting me to work exclusively on graphics code, but unless they can produce a really nice offer, I'm off to London in September! Yay ^_^

After I forget how many months since I first ordered it, Theoretical Neuroscience: Computational and Mathematical Modeling of Neural Systems has finally arrived! Yay! I'll probably be getting even less sleep for the next week or two now :)

It's important to think these things out in advance, so that you can work quickly and efficiently during the sales and concentrate on more immediate matters like elbowing people out of the way.

Do a lot of men tend to smell of chocolate in the autumn, or is my sense of smell just playing up? I keep thinking "Ooh, is that chocolate?" only to realise no, actually, it's just a man.

Either they've all started eating lots of chocolate lately, or this is my brain's way of telling me I'm not getting laid enough.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I am still alive, I think. Or at least in some sort of undead state of never-ending overtime at work. Apparently it'll all be over by the weekend, just in time for me to drag my bleary self over to my mum's place to see my aunt, who's visiting from the US. I haven't seen her in a couple of years, so that'll be nice.

Has anyone ever been to Dundee? Is it smooth or zesty?

I think my brain may be breaking.

An idea taken from the journal I've been reading today of someone very strong and inspirational, girl_on_a_stick (Hi if you're reading this!!). I've been wondering a lot about where my life is going lately, so I'm hoping that writing this stuff down will help me to work some of it out.

The Little Prince is a wonderful children's story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I first read it earlier this year, and then today I watched the film version, which has Gene Wilder in it and so is automatically awesome.

If you haven't read it, I really recommend it, especially if you have or know kids. It's brilliant, insightful, and hey, it's not too long :)

For a while now I've been thinking it would be great if there was a cross between C# and Python. Then just this morning, I discovered boo.

...it even has a MonoDevelop plugin! It's quite silly how excited I am. Probably because work in Dilbert Land is boring.

In other news, my boyfriend is seven hours away by train in Dundee, looking for a flat for his new job. We're going to be apart for at least six months -_-

In yet other news, Cloud Atlas is a really beautiful read, if you can forgive the author's smugness because he knows it.

Another weekend has fallen to the struggle between my boyfriend and his hopefully soon-to-be-ex-wife. It always seems like it will soon be over, but it never quite is. I don't know what they have left to fight about any more.

I sit around waiting for him to call, and in the end get nothing done at all.

So, a new journal. A new beginning. Yada yada yada. Welcome :-)
